I’ve been chasing these amazing birds for some time now. It seems every man Jack and his dog has seen, photographed and filmed them but I remained outside the club but recently thanks to a tip off from a fellow photographer I was able to find this young female and I must admit I’m just a little bit in love!

This is no means a quality edit or even a short film, in fact I wasn’t intending to film at all and didn’t take my pro mic with me, hence the dodgy on camera sound, but I thought the images were too good not to share.

Capable of flying speeds up to 200 kmh they are New Zealand’s fastest bird, and will take prey larger than themselves, equally if they feel threatened they are not adverse to bombing and scraping their talons over the unsuspecting head of the perceived human threat!
