I've been fascinated by metamorphosis since I was young lad, and with Cicada season in full swing and the remnants of exoskeletons littered on just about every vertical, and sometimes horizontal surface I decided I wanted to try and film this event.

A few years ago, I became aware that New Zealand Native Owls (Ruru, aka Morepork) were active in my area, this is the story of how I came to build a nest box for them and how they have now raised three sets of young owls over the past three years.
