Howling Winds and Ruru
The past few weeks have seen an increase in Ruru activity and the odd altercation with Starlings that tried to take over the nest box. Thyra has returned on several occasions and spent the odd day here and there staying on the box.
Lately the activity has increased to a daily visit and therefore I'm assuming she's decided this is a good place to hatch her eggs again (third Year in a row now, yay!) despite the Starlings trashing the place and filling it with nest material that Ruru wouldn't normally use.
The last couple of days the winds have been ferocious but the interior of the box has stayed dry and snug and she seems very content in there.
Ignore the date, for some reason the camera refuses to keep the time I set
Thor (the male) comes each morning to check on her and make sure she's ok and then disappears somewhere to hang out and roost. I've yet to figure out where he goes, but with so many trees around and these little fellas being masters of camouflage I'll be lucky to ever figure that out.

The timing could have been better, I had hoped this weekend to exchange the new camera with another new camera as the current one doesn't seem to be focused properly and refuses to hold the date and time properly despite my best efforts, but alas that'll have to wait now until next year as I don't want to disturb her.
