Drone…. but not out.
I’ve been lamenting the fact that I haven’t really been able to get those beautiful, vertigo inducing drone shots rushing down the side of a cliff and out into dense, lush jungle.
Probably because we don’t really have a dense, lush jungle here (unless you include our vegetable garden), but also and mostly because as I don’t have an FPV drone, but I do have a DJI Air 3s, which I will admit does at time induce more than a little anxiety if not vertigo.
But alas no matter how much I try I don’t seem able to get decent waypoints working with this drone and have now crashed it for about the third time trying. I’ve watched all the videos, read the blurb and sat and programmed everything as I’m supposed to but this bloody drone just doesn’t want to do what I ask of it.
It seems you can set something up and then tweak that offline to your preference, because honestly if you try to do it on the screen, by the time you’ve got it close, the battery runs out before you get to actually fly the damned thing.
I watched some Swiss guys the other day fly a RED camera on the back of some fancy drone up and over the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland… that’s $10k worth of gear, that if you get it wrong is…. well proper f’kd.
My damaged (drone) eyes
…and so it was online shopping again today for some replacement Radar covers for said drone as I managed to smash the other one while returning from a “mission”.
Mental note to self PUT THE FLIPPING OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE BACK ON AFTER YOU FINISHED TRYING TO BE COOL SO YOU DON”T CRASH INTO THE BIG TREE!
